REINVEST IN EXISTING COOLING INFRASTRUCTURE
Custom Mechanical Systems (CMS) has retrofitted hundreds of existing data center CRACs, CRAHs, and chillers. We have saved, on average, 500kW, or more, of peak load energy for our clients.
Equinix recently announced receiving a $1M energy efficiency rebate from SoCal Edison for upgrades made to their cooling infrastructure at their LA3 IBX, including almost 75 CMS air-handler retrofits.
The CMS retrofit kit swaps out the existing fans and motors with premium-efficiency 3-phase motors with VFD, custom plenum fans and cones. The control system can be configured as a stand alone solution or interfaced with a new or existing building management system to optimize overall energy savings and maintain alarm capabilities.
The CMS retrofit solution has been successfully deployed on units made by Liebert, Data Aire, and CompuAire. Typical energy savings are based on 0.3" ESP.
